Leveraging Resources to Assist Employers with Labor Shortages in Monroe and Prairie

In December 2019, Career Consultant, LaTunjha Camper-Bell, from the Arkansas Workforce Center in Brinkley, was invited to speak at the Brinkley Rotary Club meeting.

LaTunjha spoke about the opportunities that were available through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs, excellent collaboration ideas for the upcoming year, and how to leverage resources to assist employers with labor shortages in the area.

The Arkansas Workforce Center in Brinkley is providing workforce training opportunities for qualifying individuals of Monroe and Prairie Counties and is collaborating with several organizations to provide an array of employment and skills enhancement opportunities.

In discussion, it was stated that Road Master Trucking will be opening up in the Brinkley area in March 2020 and will be adding an estimated 50 jobs. Therefore, the goal of these services is to help increase and provide employers, like Road Master Trucking, with a talented pipeline and to help decrease the labor shortage in the area.

By focusing on collaboration, the WIOA program can be a key component to improve and provide a sustainable workforce in the area.
