Baptist Health offers a home visiting program for pregnant women and young families.
The Maternal Infant Home Visiting Program (MIHOW) assigns trained community outreach workers to mothers in their neighborhoods.
Community outreach workers teach and mentor the mothers about pregnancy, delivery, breastfeeding, positive parenting, nutrition, and more, until the child's second birthday.
The program's no-cost services include:
-Home visits
-Translation services available
-Medicaid, WIC, Public service assistance provided
-Access to clinical staff at our Pregnancy Wellness Center
-Free pregnancy testing
-Medicaid referral letter provided on-site
-Safe sleep assessment
-Car seat installation
-Safety baby shower
-Health screenings (blood pressure and blood sugar screenings for the mother)
-Newborn assessments
-Weight and height assessments
-Breastfeeding assessments
-CPR classes
The education provided includes:
-Healthy Pregnancy
-Preparing for childbirth
-Stages of labor
-Recovery and postpartum care (after delivery)
-Newborn care
-Developmental milestones
-Nutrition
