The City of Little Rock is inviting local organizations and businesses to host summer interns and encouraging young residents to apply for its Summer Youth Employment Opportunity Program.
The program is designed to provide teens and young adults with meaningful work experience while helping them develop essential skills needed for long-term success.
Participants receive on-the-job training focused on work readiness, career exploration, financial literacy, and educational opportunities. These experiences help increase participants’ exposure to the workforce, build self-confidence, and strengthen their career prospects.
Youth between the ages of 16 and 21 who are residents of Little Rock are eligible to participate. Selected participants will be employed for six weeks during June and July, working 32 hours per week from Monday through Thursday while earning a competitive wage. In addition to their work placement, participants will also receive job readiness training to help prepare them for future employment opportunities.
Program organizers say the initiative is most successful when youth are placed at quality worksites throughout the community, allowing them to gain real-world experience in supportive environments.
Businesses and organizations interested in hosting a summer intern or learning more about the program can contact Monica Montgomery at MMontgomery@LittleRock.gov or call 501-399-3420.
Youth interested in applying or individuals with additional questions about employment opportunities can contact HR-Employment@littlerock.gov or call 501-371-4590 for more information.
Residents are encouraged to follow the City of Little Rock for updates and upcoming program dates as preparations continue for this year’s summer employment program.
