KOBE SUITT'S SUCCESS STORY

Though the prospect of finding a new job during the pandemic seemed like a tall task, Kobe Suitt was determined and applied for multiple job opportunities. Unfortunately, with no previous work experience and no interview skills, he was not having any luck with his job search.

In January 2021, he went to the Arkansas Workforce Center in Conway and participated in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth Program. Prior to beginning Work Experience, he took part in the Job Readiness Training Activity, where he learned skills such as Resume Building, Interviewing Skills Training, and Dressing for Success. Additionally, he participated in the financial literacy classes and learned how to budget to save and manage future potential earnings.

Following that, in February 2021, he participated in the Work Experience Program, where he obtained valuable work experience at the Community Action Program of Central Arkansas (CAPCA), completing his work experience. Kobe made excellent contacts, which resulted in an excellent learning experience.

Upon the completion of the occupational skills training program, Kobe was hired as a full-time Cook at Fuji's in Conway, and he also got a part-time job at Steak & Shake. Overall, he attributes his success to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program and encourages other job seekers in need to visit their nearest Workforce Center.
