Pulaski Tech & WIOA: Building Futures Together

For more than 14 years, the University of Arkansas–Pulaski Technical College Adult Education Program has been a cornerstone of opportunity for adult learners across Central Arkansas. By equipping students with essential academic and workforce skills, the program has paved the way for hundreds of success stories. At the heart of this impact is a longstanding and dynamic partnership with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

The Pulaski Tech Adult Education Program offers a wide range of services, including GED preparation, Adult Basic Education (ABE), English as a Second Language (ESL), digital literacy, employability skills training, and career pathway development. These programs are designed to do more than educate—they empower students with the skills and confidence to pursue stable, rewarding careers.

Through its partnership with WIOA, the program has been able to broaden its reach and deepen its effectiveness. WIOA staff seamlessly connect individuals in need of educational support to Pulaski Tech, where instructors and career coaches provide tailored instruction. Together, the two teams design individualized education and career plans aligned with in-demand job sectors. This collaboration ensures students receive wraparound support, barrier removal, and clear pathways from the classroom to the workplace.

The results have been transformative. Adults who once faced limited academic skills or job prospects have earned high school equivalency diplomas, obtained certifications, entered college programs, and secured stable employment. These outcomes create a ripple effect, promoting self-sufficiency not just for individuals, but for families and entire communities.

This “Success Spotlight” highlights how WIOA’s emphasis on collaboration and coordination amplifies the impact of partner programs like Pulaski Tech Adult Education. By working together, they have built a model of service delivery that prioritizes access, accountability, and advancement—ultimately creating a stronger, more effective workforce development system in Central Arkansas.

Celebrating Success. Together.
