The Community Action Program for Central Arkansas (CAPCA) is inviting community partners across Faulkner, Cleburne, White, Conway, Perry, and Van Buren counties to take part in the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count—a critical effort to better understand and address homelessness in Central Arkansas.
The PIT Count is a federally required snapshot that helps communities identify the number of individuals and families experiencing homelessness on a given night. The data collected plays a vital role in raising awareness about housing insecurity, guiding local planning efforts, and ensuring Arkansas submits the most accurate and comprehensive information possible when reporting needs for services and funding.
The count will take place over Friday and Saturday, and CAPCA is encouraging anyone who encounters or serves individuals experiencing homelessness during this period to participate. Community members and service providers are asked to first check whether an individual has already completed the PIT survey. If not, partners are encouraged to assist them in completing the confidential survey, which typically takes about 10 minutes.
The survey gathers important information about where individuals are staying, household size, length and history of homelessness, and basic demographic data. It also includes optional, sensitive questions related to health conditions, disabilities, veteran status, and other factors that help communities better understand the barriers people face and the types of services most needed. Participation is voluntary, confidential, and does not affect eligibility for services.
Completed surveys may be returned to a local CAPCA Support Office or emailed directly to myracle.white@capcainc.org. CAPCA encourages partners to share this information with homeless service providers, outreach teams, and others who may want to assist with Arkansas’s PIT Count.
“Your participation strengthens our collective impact,” said Myracle White, Emergency Services Manager at CAPCA. “The information gathered through the PIT Count supports informed funding decisions and helps ensure that our communities receive the resources needed to effectively serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness.”
