The Central Arkansas Workforce Development Area proudly highlights the inspiring journey of Kenia Gibbs in its monthly Success Corner. Kenia’s story is a testament to the power of community support and the opportunities made possible through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
Kenia discovered the Central Arkansas Workforce Centers through a friend, and together they sought job search assistance. During this initial visit, Kenia learned about the variety of services provided by WIOA and quickly enrolled in the program.
Following his enrollment, Kenia underwent a comprehensive assessment to determine the best support strategies for his employment goals.
He participated in a range of services designed to boost his job readiness, including:
Work experience training
Financial literacy education
Resume development
Personalized career counseling
With guidance from his Career Consultant, Kenia actively applied to job openings using his newly enhanced resume. His determination and preparation led to success—he secured employment with O’Reilly Auto Parts as a Parts Specialist, earning $14 per hour.
“I just want to thank you all for helping me. I learned a lot in the program. I felt prepared once I was able to gain employment.”— Kenia Gibbs
