Due to her lack of experience, Marissa Bolden, a dislocated homemaker seeking to support her family, visited the Arkansas Workforce Center in Lonoke to learn about her options for help with her job search.
She learnt about the transportation industry during her meeting with LaMarshall Ford, a career consultant, and made the decision to obtain her CDL. After being determined eligible for the WIOA Dislocated Worker Program Marissa enrolled in River Rock CDL Training, LLC in September 2022.
She passed her exam and received her certification in December 2022, after gaining the necessary knowledge to operate a commercial vehicle and was soon hired by Prime Inc., where she earns $800 per week while in training. She will earn 52 cents per mile once her training is completed.
Finally, Marissa expressed her appreciation for WIOA assistance and stated “I could not have done this without WIOA. I am genuinely happy.”
