Since 1984, Lonoke-Prairie County Adult Education has been a cornerstone in the region’s educational and workforce development landscape. Working closely with the Workforce Center, the organization plays a vital role in helping individuals improve their educational foundations, build job readiness, and pursue career advancement opportunities.

This enduring partnership exemplifies the goals of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), which emphasizes collaboration across programs to provide job seekers and employers with comprehensive, customer-centered services. Together, the Adult Education program and the Workforce Center maximize resources and support for individuals across all walks of life.

A key component of this collaboration involves the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) assessment. The Workforce Center refers clients to Adult Education for TABE testing—a requirement for scholarship eligibility. In return, Adult Education provides the instructional support necessary to help individuals boost their scores and prepare for career training.

The scope of support doesn’t end there. Adult Education offers a wide array of services, including Basic Adult Education, Arkansas High School Diploma preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL), WAGE Certificates, and SNAP Employment and Training programs. These resources serve a diverse population, from young adults to SNAP recipients, and equip them with essential skills for personal and professional growth.

The partnership is mutual and dynamic. Adult Education also refers students and SNAP participants back to the Workforce Center for scholarships and job training programs, particularly those targeting out-of-school youth. The two organizations share regular communication, participate in each other’s meetings, and co-host events such as job fairs to broaden their impact.

Their collaborative efforts have led to expanded access to scholarship, enhanced job preparedness, and even the development of new facilities, directly contributing to the economic and educational vitality of the region.

Together, Lonoke-Prairie County Adult Education and the Workforce Center continue to demonstrate the power of partnership in building brighter futures for Arkansans.
